Establishment of Plan Community Energy LLC

Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies (ISEP / Tokyo, Japan) and PlanEnergi (Skørping, Denmark) has established Plan Community Energy LLC.
In July 2015, the two entities signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement. The joint venture is expected to further strengthen the relationship between the two entities and clarify their governance, making it easier for them to develop their business in Japan and facilitating more efficient technology transfer in the future.
Plan Community Energy aims to promote sustainable community-based energy projects globally by leveraging the knowledge and technology of Japan and Denmark in the field of renewable energy knowledge, technology transfer and capacity building. In addition, we will promote initiatives to revitalize the region through our renewable energy business.
In particular, technology transfer is expected in the field of district heating (DH) or district heating and cooling (DHC), in which Denmark has played a leading role globally. In the northern part of the Danish Jutland Peninsula, where PlanEnergi is based, a “the District Heating Cluster ” has been formed, and a variety of initiatives are being implemented in collaboration with companies, research institutes, and local governments. In addition, the Heat Roadmap Europe, a heat supply plan published by the EU in 2018, is based on this accumulation of knowledge and experience; some 200 people from Japan have participated in site visits so far under the guidance of ISEP and PlanEnergi, and collaborative relationships have emerged.
